EXIF Viewer — View metadata

Svenska | English

Want to see which camera was used, where a photo was taken, or if an image might be AI-generated? The Inspect tool extracts EXIF, GPS, IPTC, XMP and ICC data from images directly in the browser — entirely without uploading the file.

How to do it

  1. Go to the Inspect tab and upload an image.
  2. The tool automatically extracts all available metadata and displays it in clear sections.
  3. Export results as JSON, XLSX or Markdown, or copy individual fields.

All processing happens locally in your browser — your images never leave your computer.

What can you see in an image's metadata?

Digital images carry a wealth of hidden information. EXIF data includes camera model, lens, aperture, shutter speed, ISO, white balance and focal length. Date and time of capture are stored with high precision. GPS metadata reveals exact coordinates — latitude, longitude and sometimes altitude. The tool displays these on an interactive map so you can easily see where the image was taken. IPTC fields contain copyright information, captions, keywords and contact details often used by news agencies and professional photographers. XMP data can reveal editing history and which programs were used. The tool also searches for traces of AI generation — prompt text, model names (Stable Diffusion, Midjourney, DALL-E) and generation parameters. Detection is based on metadata, not image analysis, and is heuristic. A privacy review gives a quick overview: is there GPS data? Camera serial number? Software history? AI traces? Everything is presented clearly so you can assess what information the image reveals.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which image formats are supported for metadata analysis?

JPEG, PNG and WebP have full support. HEIC and AVIF have basic support but metadata extraction may be limited.

Can the tool determine if an image is AI-generated?

The tool searches for known traces in metadata (prompt text, model names etc.). It is a heuristic check — not a definitive classification. Images without metadata can still be AI-generated.

Are my images sent to a server?

No, all analysis happens locally in your browser. Images never leave your computer. Map data is fetched from OpenStreetMap if GPS coordinates exist.
