The Swedish Companies Registration Office (Bolagsverket) register is a public document and one of the best open data sources for OSINT in Sweden. It contains organisation numbers, company names, addresses, company types, registration dates and board members for all active and deregistered companies.

All results can be exported as CSV with organisation number, name, status, address and date. Export files are named and dated for reproducible notes. Always verify critical facts directly in the Bolagsverket register.
Data sources and limitations
This tool uses two data sources from Bolagsverket:
- Real-time data via Bolagsverket API: retrieved directly on search, always current.
- Indexed database for address analysis: updated regularly, may be a few days behind a register change.
- EU VIES register: external VAT registration check, may be temporarily unavailable.
Limitations
- The register does not contain personal identity numbers, ownership stakes or transaction data.
- Board members are shown as of the current date, not historical composition.
- A shared address does not prove ownership, control or wrongdoing.
- Companies without a known address in the register do not appear in address analysis.
- The tool does not make probability or risk assessments.
Frequently asked questions
Is it legal to use Bolagsverket data for research?
Yes. The Bolagsverket register consists of public documents under the Swedish principle of public access. It is permitted to retrieve, analyse and publish information from the register, with attribution.
Can I find the owners of a company?
The Bolagsverket register shows board members and authorised signatories, not shareholders directly. For limited companies, shareholder information is held by Euroclear or in annual reports. Holding structures often require manual chain searches.
How do I find companies connected to a specific address?
Search the address in the "Companies at the same address" tool to see all registered companies. Combine with the address cluster view to see if the address is unusual in a national perspective.
