How long should the egg boil?
The cooking time counts from when the water boils and the eggs are in. The times below are for medium eggs taken straight from the fridge. Larger eggs and eggs at room temperature need slightly different times, so experiment a little.
Use it as a kitchen timer
The timer works just as well for pasta, tea, oven dishes and baking. Sound is turned on from the start on this page, but a signal only plays after you have pressed Start. The screen is kept awake while the countdown runs, if the browser allows it.
Put the phone in the kitchen and control the timer from the computer, or the other way round: with Remote you can pause and start from your phone.
Frequently asked questions
How long should I boil a soft boiled egg?
About four minutes gives a soft boiled egg with a runny yolk, and six minutes a jammy one. Medium is around eight minutes and hard around ten. The time counts from when the water boils.
How long should I boil a hard boiled egg?
Ten minutes gives a hard boiled egg with a firm yolk. Put it in cold water right afterwards and it is easier to peel.
Will I hear it when time is up?
Yes. Sound is turned on for this page, and three tones play when time is up. You can turn the sound off under Sound in the settings.
Can I use it as an ordinary kitchen timer?
Yes. Change the time with the stepper to whatever you are cooking, or use the links for common egg times.
