How to use the interval timer

Enter how many seconds the work and rest periods should be and how many rounds you want. Press Start. A short ten second warm-up gives you time to get in place. The signal sounds at every change and when the last round is done.

This page is only for intervals. For an ordinary countdown of a single time, use the main timer.

Training tips

Tabata is 20 seconds of hard work and 10 seconds of rest for eight rounds, four minutes in total. HIIT is often run as 40 seconds of work and 20 seconds of rest, or 30 against 30. Start with fewer rounds than you think you can manage.

Frequently asked questions

What is an interval timer?

An interval timer switches automatically between work and rest for a chosen number of rounds. It is used for strength training, running, stretching and for work techniques such as pomodoro.

How do I set up tabata?

Choose the Tabata setup. It fills in 20 seconds of work, 10 seconds of rest and 8 rounds.

Will I hear the signal if I switch tabs?

Yes. The signals are scheduled against the audio clock and play even if the tab is in the background. The screen is kept awake while the intervals run, if the browser allows it.

Can I share a link with my settings?

Yes. The address is updated with your values when you press Start and can be passed on. If the recipient opens the link, the fields are filled in.
