Tone Vault
Write down how a tone is built while you remember it: which guitar, which amp, which pedals and where the knobs were. Everything is saved locally in your browser. No audio is recorded and nothing is sent anywhere.
How to use it
- Press New tone and give it a name, for example Thrash rhythm in drop D.
- Fill in the gear and set the knobs from 0 to 10 the way they were when the tone sounded right.
- Add tags and notes that help you find the tone later, and mark your favourites.
- Search the whole library, sort the list or filter by tag. Duplicate a tone when you want to try a variation.
What is Tone Vault?
Tone Vault is a private library where you write down how a guitar sound is built: guitar, pickup, tuning, strings, amp, cab, pedals and knob settings. Everything is stored as text and numbers in the browser on your device.
No audio is recorded. The tool replaces the notepad you would otherwise write the sound in, but with search and tags.
What can I save about a sound?
Each sound gets a name and fields for what affects the tone. Knobs are set from 0 to 10 the way they stood when the sound felt right.
A good sound can only be recreated once you have written down what changes it the most.
- Guitar, pickup, tuning and number of strings.
- Amp, cab and pedals.
- Gain, bass, mid, treble and presence.
- Free notes and tags.
How do I find a sound later?
Search names, notes, gear and tags, sort by last changed, name, created or favorites first, and filter on a tag. You can show only favorites.
To try a variation, duplicate the sound and change the copy. Presets you save in Amp Simulator end up in the same library.
Frequently asked questions
Is any audio or recording saved?
No. Tone Vault only stores text and numbers about your tone. Nothing is recorded and nothing leaves your device.
Where are my tones stored?
In the local database of your browser on this device. Clearing site data removes them, so take a backup in the My Setup tool once you have saved something important.
Can I save settings from the amp simulator here?
Yes. Presets saved in the Amp Simulator end up in the same library and show in the list.
Can I group sounds, for example by song or band?
Yes, with tags. Enter tags separated by commas, for example the name of the song, and then filter the list on the tag.
