Library

The library keeps your own tab files and songs in one place. Files are stored only in your browser. Search your library and get links to external sources from the same search box.

How to use it

  1. Choose Add file or drag files onto the page. The formats .gp, .gpx, .gp5, .gp4, .gp3, MusicXML and MIDI work, up to 20 MB per file.
  2. Type in the search box to find songs in your library. Under External sources you find links to Songsterr, mySongBook and Flat.
  3. Choose Edit to fill in artist, tuning, tags and notes. Mark songs as favourites or add them to My Songs.
  4. Choose Practice to open the song in Practice Mode and work on one section at a time.

What is the Fabbe library?

The library is a local collection for your own tab files and songs in Fabbe. You add files in the formats .gp, .gpx, .gp5, .gp4, .gp3, MusicXML and MIDI, and they are stored in the browser on your device. The maximum file size is 20 MB.

The collection is organised in tabs: My Files, My Songs, Recent, Favorites, Practice, My Riffs, Imports and Discover. Recent shows the twenty files you opened last. Practice shows songs with sections that have not yet reached their target tempo.

Search, sort and edit

The search box searches your own library by song, artist, tuning and tag. You can sort by last opened, title, artist or last added, and filter on a tag.

Use Edit to add details that make the library easier to search.

  • A custom title, shown instead of the title in the file.
  • Artist and tuning, for example D standard.
  • Tempo between 30 and 300 BPM.
  • Up to twelve tags, separated by commas.
  • Notes about what you want to practice.

External sources and cloud library

Under Discover and in the search results you find links to Songsterr, Guitar Pro mySongBook and Flat. The links open at the original source in a new tab. Fabbe copies nothing from them and bypasses no paywalls.

If you are signed in to My Fabbe you can optionally save single files privately in a cloud library, to fetch them on another device. The limits are 5 MB per file, 200 files and 50 MB in total. As a guest, your files exist only on this device.

Frequently asked questions

Are my files uploaded anywhere?

No. Files are kept in the browser's own storage on your device and never leave it. If you clear site data in the browser they are gone, so save a copy under My setup.

Can Fabbe fetch tabs from Songsterr or mySongBook?

No. Fabbe does not get around paywalls and does not copy protected material. The search gives links that open at the original source in a new tab.

Which file formats can I add?

Guitar Pro files (.gp, .gpx, .gp5, .gp4 and .gp3), MusicXML and MIDI. Each file can be at most 20 MB. Empty files and formats Fabbe does not recognise are rejected with an error message.

What is the difference between Favorite and My Songs?

Favorite is a mark for songs you like to keep close. My Songs holds the songs you are practicing right now. Every song in My Songs gets its own practice page with progress per section.
