Personal Bests
Your records are collected here. Each record belongs to a technique, an exercise and sometimes a rhythm, a note value and a tuning, so you compare yourself against the right measure.
How to use it
- Log clean sessions in the practice log. A session that beats your record for the same exercise is saved here automatically.
- Pick a technique or tuning in the filter to see only those records.
- Add a record by hand if you already have one. A value lower than the current one is not saved.
- Correct or delete a record that went wrong, for example after a typing mistake.
What is a personal best?
A personal best is the highest clean tempo you have played for a given exercise. Each record belongs to a technique and an exercise, and sometimes to a rhythm, a note value and a tuning.
The split makes the comparison fair. 160 BPM in sixteenth notes is twice as many strokes per beat as 160 BPM in eighth notes, and a record list that mixed them would be misleading.
How are records set and changed?
Records are set by clean sessions that you log in the practice log, for example from the training tools. If a clean session beats your record for the same exercise, it is saved automatically.
If you already have a record, you add it by hand. The page only saves a value higher than the current one, so a lower tempo never replaces a better one.
- The tempo must be a number between 1 and 999 BPM.
- Write which exercise the record applies to. Rhythm is optional, for example Gallop.
- Correct a record if you entered the wrong value, or delete it.
How to use your records
The overview shows the top tempo per technique. With the Technique and Tuning filters you see only the relevant records, for example all in drop D.
A record is a good goal for the next session. Choose the same exercise and aim a few BPM above the record instead of jumping far. Records are stored only in your browser, so take a copy under My Setup.
Frequently asked questions
Why was my record not saved?
A record is saved only if the tempo is higher than the current one for the same exercise. If the value is equal or lower, the page tells you nothing was saved.
Can I change or remove a record?
Yes. Choose Correct to change the value in BPM, or Delete to remove the record. Deleting requires a confirmation.
Do unclean sessions give a personal best?
No. Personal bests are based on clean sessions, meaning sessions where you judged that you played cleanly at the tempo.
Do the records disappear if I clear the browser?
Yes, if you clear site data. The records are stored only locally. Under My Setup you export a backup that you can import again.
