Practice Log
A simple practice diary that lives in your browser. Log the exercise, tempo and result and watch your tempo develop over time. You do not need an account.
How to use it
- Fill in exercise, technique, tempo, result and time under Log a session and press Log session.
- A clean session that beats your earlier record for the same exercise is saved as a personal best.
- Filter the table by exercise, technique or result. Edit or delete a session when needed.
- Follow the tempo chart. Under My Setup you can save a copy of all your data.
What should I write in a practice log?
Write the exercise, the tempo and whether the session was clean. That is enough to see progress over time. Add technique and time if you want to see how your practice is spread out.
- Name the exercise the same way every time, so that personal bests count per exercise.
- Only log clean sessions as clean: the log is worthless if it flatters you.
- One line after each session is enough, you do not need long notes.
How is my data stored?
The log is saved in the browser on your device. No server receives it and no account is needed. Under My Setup you can save a copy of all your data, for example before you switch browser or clear site data.
How to read the tempo chart
The tempo chart shows your tempo in BPM per day for the exercise you picked, and how high your best tempo so far has been. A rising curve means the exercise is working.
- A plateau of a few weeks is normal. Lower the tempo, practise cleanness and raise it again.
- A tempo that jumps up and down can mean you log sessions that were not clean as clean.
- Choose Show as table if you want to read the numbers instead of seeing the curve.
Frequently asked questions
How is a personal best counted?
A clean session that beats your earlier record for the same exercise is saved as a personal best automatically. Sessions that were not clean do not count.
Does the log disappear if I clear the browser?
Yes, if you clear site data for the page. Save a copy under My Setup now and then.
How often should I practise to see progress?
Short sessions every day usually give more than one long session a week. Frequency is shown as practice days over the last 28 days.
Can I log sessions from other tools?
Yes. Tremolo trainer, Alternate picking trainer, Gallop trainer and String skipping trainer save the session in the log themselves. Other sessions you add by hand.
